What is a Venn Diagram?

A Venn Diagram is a way to present logical relationships between people or things in a picture. The picture usually is made up of intersecting circles. The circles represent groups. The way that they intersect represents the logical relationship.

For Example:

In the following diagram, there are three circles, A, B and C. Let A represent the group of children who like to play baseball. B will represent the group of children who like to play football. C represents the group of children who like to play soccer.

The shaded area represents the children who like to play baseball, football and soccer. Can you find the areas that represent the following relationships?
   1. The children who like to play baseball and football.
   2. The children who like to play football and soccer.
   3. The children who like to play baseball and soccer.

This may seem easy, but Venn diagrams can be used to represent complicated relationships and make them easier to understand.
