KIDS: Turtle Names

{Spotlight Page Header} In the Spotlight

ConneCT Kids has asked for your help to name the turtle on the statue of the Marquis de LaFayette (General LaFayette) in Hartford. This famous statue was created by the American artist Paul Wayland Bartlett (1865-1925) around the year 1907. It stands at the junction of Washington Street, LaFayette Street, and Capitol Avenue, directly across from the State Capitol and the Bushnell in Hartford. Many people have seen this statue and pass by it every day. What most people have not seen is that there is a small bronze turtle just in front of the horse's left hind hoof. For the full story, see our Name the Turtle page.

Student Suggestions

Below are suggestions that have been received from students. ConneCT Kids will keep the list of suggestions on this page. When we have enough we will ask for your help in selecting the top ten names. Those ten names will appear in an online poll. The one with the most responses will be the winner. So keep sending us your suggestions and you may be the one to Name the Turtle.
